Founded by Misty McKenzie, it began as a simple desire for a flexible schedule to raise her daughter and has since flourished into two thriving locations in Nelson and Kelowna, BC. Here, smooth skin and self-care are celebrated every day.

Led by Misty McKenzie, who brings nearly 2 decades of expertise in sugaring and skincare, our team is dedicated to making your visit as enjoyable and effective as possible. Misty’s deep understanding of unique skin needs – from hormonal changes and pregnancy to sensitive aging skin – ensures that every client is in expert hands.

We pride ourselves on being more than just skilled technicians – we’re friendly, approachable individuals who love what we do. At The Sugar Shack, you’ll always find a warm welcome, professional care, and a touch of fun to brighten your day.

Misty Mckenzie

Founder & Owner

Meet the Sugar Shacks owner and operator, Misty. Misty began as a sugar practitioner in 2010, opening her first location in Nelson, and since has expanded to Kelowna. She is the creator behind the biodegradable sugar paste and developed the body sugar course. She strives for connection and is committed to continuous growth.

When Misty isn't at the Sugar Shack, she is also a mother, wife, and dog owner. She loves road trips and enjoys taking in the beautiful BC scenery.

Camille York

Camille is bringing plenty of experience as a sugar practitioner back to Kelowna as she returns to the Okanagan after a few years on the coast.  She is newlywed and in love with socialising and sunshine!  Camille is great at creating a fun welcoming atmosphere while she keeps you smooth year round! Specialising in Brazilian and underarm sugaring! Don't hesitate to book in with this fabulous lady who loves what she does!

Dagne Toffolo

Dagne began sugaring at the Sugar Shack in the summer of 2020. She took an interest in becoming a sugaring practitioner because she wants to help people feel more confident in their skin, and she believes sugaring is an incredible form of self-care for everyone.

Being born in the Kootenays, her main interests consist of outdoor activities, such as skiing, hiking, biking, and climbing. She is currently a full-time RMT student to further her education in bodywork.

Training for Professionals

We’re also passionate about sharing our expertise. The Sugar Shack offers training for beauty professionals eager to master the art of sugaring and expand their skills. Our training programmes equip you with the knowledge and confidence to provide top-notch, eco-friendly beauty services to your clients.

I am so happy I found The Sugar Shack when I was 7 months pregnant!!
They turned me into a sugaring girl and I have gone back every 4 weeks since my first visit.
As I was told, the hair grows less and slower with every appointment and I just love the results and how low maintenance it makes personal grooming.
I even let her do my eyebrows and the fourth visit and hadn’t let anyone touch them in years!
